A host of new development is planned for Panama City Beach in 2019, including a Margaritaville Beach Resort, an airport hotel and a sports complex.
The Margaritaville Beach Resort will cover 13 acres of Panama City Beach's oceanfront property and like its sister properties in Orlando and Hollywood Beach will combine an amenities complex, full-service hotel, function space, retail, residential properties and signature food and beverage concepts. The resort will break ground next year and is expected to begin a phased opening in 2021.
The Northwest Florida Beaches Airport, located 18 miles from Panama City Beach, will also see new development with the addition of an airport hotel. The brand of the hotel has yet to be announced but will include between 110 and 125 rooms, a full-service restaurant and bar and meetings space. No opening date has been announced for this project.
The Panama City Beach Sports Complex will offer areas for guests to enjoy soccer, lacrosse, rugby, football, flag football, baseball and softball in the dedicated tournament buildings, two stadiums with seating for 1,500, and a 13-field complex made of nine turf fields and four grass fields. The complex will open to the public in the summer of 2019 with a lineup of festivities to be announced closer to opening day.
