Longtime Travel + Leisure editor in chief Nancy Novogrod is
launching her latest project, Culturati Travel Design, on Oct. 24.
In partnership with Valerie Wilson Travel (VWT), Novogrod
in 2019 will lead four group trips that she curates. VWT will handle
bookings.
"I'm drawing on the network that I created during my
time at Travel + Leisure, the network I've built for myself and the magazine,
and I'm drawing on my knowledge of destinations and of art and culture and food
and style," Novogrod said. "It really is a lot of fun for me to be
focusing on things I love, and to be able to share them with others."
Culturati will launch with two trips in March and April
2019, to Israel and the Netherlands, with fall 2019 trips to Tuscany and Japan
to follow. In 2020, Novogrod has plans in the works for trips to India and
Portugal.
Novogrod called herself a "curator," while Valerie
Wilson Travel oversees bookings and the "operational framework of the
trip."
"It's powered by the kind of knowledge of the ins and
outs that Valerie Wilson has, and I also think that my experience is unique,"
she said.
Novogrod left Travel + Leisure in 2014 after 21 years with
the magazine. In June 2017,
she launched a members-only travel agency, Essentialist, with Joan Roca. She
left Essentialist later that year.
