ASTA in May will revamp and rebrand its ASTA Network Magazine,
a quarterly publication. The new name will be Travel Advisor.
The refreshed magazine will feature business trends, destination
information, government affairs and research analysis.
"Our decision to revamp our magazine is part of an
overall strategy to create better content, both for our members and for the
consumers we try to influence on their behalf," ASTA director of
communications Erika Richter said in a statement.
Richter said the rebranding is happening "at the
perfect time," as the term "travel agent" is shifting to "travel
advisor" in both the consumer media and the traveling public's eye.
ASTA said voices in the magazine will range from staff
members to advisors to suppliers to travel writers.
"We're experiencing a true renaissance in our industry,
making it a perfect time to celebrate this success by refocusing our editorial
strategy," ASTA president and CEO Zane Kerby said. "'Travel Advisor
will better serve our membership with fresh content designed for the travel
professionals of today."
