Mezi, a virtual travel assistant powered by artificial intelligence (AI), has launched Mezi for Business.

Mezi app users type their travel needs in a chat -- for instance, "I need a flight and hotel in New York Sept. 1-5" -- and Mezi uses the traveler's previously stored preferences to return travel options that can then be booked via the service.

The platform launched as a consumer travel service two years ago. The new business platform offers an app for travelers and a dashboard for travel agencies.

If the AI can't fulfill a request, a travel agent steps in, but the AI learns from the interaction for future queries.

Agencies already using Mezi for Business are Adelman Travel, Casto Travel and W Travel. American Express is also a customer, Mezi said.

"With the introduction of A.I. automation to the human agent's booking workflow, Mezi for Business provides significant opportunities for increased productivity and optimization, helping grow and scale their businesses more quickly and efficiently, while providing travelers with a new level of personalized service," Mezi said in a statement.
