Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has introduced a Price
Tracking tool that enables automatic scanning of flight and hotel prices on
existing bookings, and rebooking if savings is found.
The tool automates what was previously a manual process.
"Currently, CWT counselors manually rebook
approximately 1 in 20 itineraries with the same flight or hotel at a lower
rate," CWT said. "Fully automating the process will further improve
that rate."
In testing, Price Tracking delivered savings equivalent of
up to 2% of total travel spending, according to CWT. Patrice Simon, chief
technology officer of strategy and new product development, called that "a
huge sum of money" for companies with large travel programs.
CWT partnered with airfare/hotel price-tracker Yapta to
create Price Tracking. The travel management company said Yapta performed
better than other competing technology providers.
