Palazzo Venart Luxury Hotel, located on Venice's Grand Canal, has joined the Leading Hotels of the World.
The 18-room, 16th century property, formerly known as Palazzo Bacchini Delle Palme, reopened as the Palazzo Venart on Aug. 29, 2016, after 50 years of neglect.
Venetian art historians oversaw the two-year renovation, which included the restoration of frescoes from the 1800s and the sourcing of period furnishings, chandeliers, silks and brocades.
The project also included transporting an antique, hand-painted French court piano to the property via barge and the creation of Ristorante Glam, overseen by Enrico Bartolini, Italy's youngest two-Michelin Star chef.
The general manager, Angelo Rizzi, is formerly of the Dorchester Principe di Savoia in Milan and the Grand Hotel Villa d'Este on Lake Como.
Palazzo Venart is part of Taiwan-based LDC Group, whose Italian collection includes hotels in Rome, Venice, Florence, Piedmont and Umbria.
