The Hotel Valrose in Rougemont, Switzerland, which had been closed since 2007, reopened in mid-December after a 20-month renovation that cost more than $9.9 million.
The property, located a few minutes from the ski slopes in Switzerland's Lake Geneva region, was built in 1904 to coincide with the opening of the Montreux-Oberland Bernois railway in the Pays-d'Enhaut district.
The boutique property features 12 guestrooms, a restaurant, a coffee shop and a garden patio.
The hotel is being managed by Florian Carrard, a former chef at the Lausanne Palace, and will offer local cuisine based on regional products. The project is the brainchild of Jean-Jacques Gauer, a former director of the Lausanne Palace, and Edgar Bovier, executive chef at the Palace.
The decor features a modern interpretation of Alpine design, complete with wooden walls, leather chairs and custom fabrics.
Rates start at $165 per room per night.
