Dromoland Castle in County Clare, Ireland, completed the final phase of a yearlong, $23-plus million renovation.

The refurbishment of the 16th-century, 97-room Preferred Hotels & Resorts property, which was accomplished in collaboration with the Irish Georgian Society, encompassed castle guestrooms and bathrooms, the Queen Anne Wing, the dining and lounge areas, all public spaces, the Spa at Dromoland Castle and the indoor pool.

Irish painter John Brennan was commissioned to create Celtic-inspired artwork in the guestrooms. Other design features include Waterford crystal chandeliers, hand-woven Venetian silk wall coverings, ancestral oil paintings, hunting mounts and stained glass as well as such contemporary elements as Egyptian cotton bed linens, modern Irish cuisine and cocktails and large spaces enhanced by natural light.

The renovation also includes new golf carts and pathways at the Dromoland Castle Golf and Country Club, air conditioning units and repairs to the water treatment system, windows and the stone facade.
