Peregrine Adventures, a brand of the Intrepid Group, is adding Romania to its lineup of destinations this summer.

The Secrets of Romania tour, which will launch in June, was created in response to a 157% growth in demand for Eastern Europe travel last year as well as a 56% surge in bookings to Romania by its sister brand, Intrepid Travel.

"Considering overtourism's increasing impact on local communities, the decision to expand our Eastern European product range for summer aims to spotlight less crowded alternatives to the Continent's hot spots during their peak season," said Leigh Barnes, regional director for North America, Peregrine Adventures.

The 10-night tour, priced from $2,376 per person, includes visits to Bucharest; Count Dracula's Bran Castle; Sighisoara, a Unesco World Heritage Site and home to Vlad the Impaler; a traditional Romanian meal in the home of a local in Viscri, and a horse-and-cart ride and picnic in a scenic meadow.

Also included are accommodations at four-star hotels, the services of a local guide, transfers, various activities, some meals and taxes.
