The 118-room Hotel Freigeist Gottingen opened in July in the central German city of Gottingen. The newbuild property, whose design was overseen by hotelier Georg Rosentreter in collaboration with Hannover, Germany-based architectural firm Ahrens & Grabenhorst Architekten, is located in the district of Groner Tor, a cultural center for students and academics.
Amenities include the Japanese-South American restaurant Intuu, with a sushi bar and chef's table; the Herbarium Bar, featuring house-made Von Hallers gin cocktails and other drinks; and the Container Bar on the terrace.
Other features include a fourth-floor spa; cardio and weight rooms; yoga facilities; a relaxation lounge; and a nearly 1,000-square-foot rooftop terrace with a sand floor.
Guestrooms and suites feature contemporary Nordic design, oak floors and floor-to-ceiling windows.
