Italy's Villa La Massa added a villa, Casa Colonica, in a restored, 19th century farmhouse.
The renovation of the 6,500-square-foot villa was undertaken at a cost of about $1.75 million.
Casa Colonica features four suites, which blend historic and
contemporary design, and a renovated kitchen with wood, stone and
ceramic decor elements.
The Suite and Junior Suite on the ground floor can be connected and share a small garden.
The 41-room Villa La Massa, located on the grounds of a 16th century estate that once belonged to the Medici family, overlooks the Arno River and Chianti Valley in Tuscany and is surrounded by 22 acres of gardens and olive and lemon groves.
Situated about five miles outside of Florence, the property is part of Villa d'Este Hotels and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
Resort amenities include Il Verrocchio, a traditional Tuscan restaurant with a 15th century, 400-bottle wine cellar; the Medicean Bar; the Pool Bar; the Arno SPA; a private chapel; gym; outdoor pool, and jogging path.
A tennis club is located within walking distance, horseback riding is available three miles from the hotel and the Ugolino Golf Club is six miles away.
Complimentary private parking is available, and the hotel also offers a helipad. Complimentary roundtrip daily shuttle service is available for guests to the Ponte Vecchio.
Rates in the junior suite in the Colonica starts from about $850 per night; about $1,050 per night in the suites.
