Six Senses, an early leader in developing sustainable luxury
wellness resorts, has completed its first city project.
The Six Senses Maxwell is now open in the historic Tanjong
Pagar district of Singapore. The opening completes the brand's first city hotel
project after the opening of sister property Six Senses Duxton in April, with
both hotels comprising the Six Senses Singapore.
Originally the site of a nutmeg plantation, the Six Senses Maxwell
consists of 14 three- and four-story colonial-style buildings that were joined
together to create a colonial-style 19th-century heritage building that now
houses the 138-room hotel. The building has an art deco design with
exposed brick.

All rooms feature handmade mattresses by Naturalmat, organic
bed linens from Beaumont & Brown, and pillows and duvets from Hanse to
support Sleep with Six Senses, a key pillar of the group's Integrated Wellness
philosophy. Each room also has a wellness book, Baoding balls for meditation and an Oh Ball for massaging feet.
Spa facilities for both hotels will open in 2019.
"We are absolutely delighted to deliver the complete
unparalleled Six Senses experience in Singapore with the launch of this
property," general manager Murray Aitken said in a press release. "Guests
will be able to immerse themselves fully into what makes Singapore so special,
while at the same time benefiting from the wellness aspects that are the
hallmark of the Six Senses experience."
