TripAdvisor has released a ranking of "Most Excellent"
hotel chains, which boast the site's highest percentage of TripAdvisor
Certificate of Excellence recipients worldwide.
Among the "Most Excellent" large hotel chains, defined
as having more than 500 properties, Preferred Hotels & Resorts earned top
honors. In second place was Hyatt, followed by Hilton Hotels & Resorts,
Premier Inn, Marriott International, Best Western International, Radisson Hotel
Group, La Quinta Holdings, InterContinental Hotels Group and Travelodge Hotels
(U.K.).
In the medium hotel category -- companies with between 50 to
500 properties -- the winner was Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, followed by
Drury Hotels, Indian Hotels, Leading Hotels of the World, Shangri-La Group,
Paradores, Relais & Chateaux, Kempinski Hotels, H10 Hotels and Omni Hotels
& Resorts.
Belmond topped the list of "Most Excellent" small
hotel chains -- categorized as having 20 to 50 properties. Belmond was followed
by Oberoi Group, Loews Hotels, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Jurys Inn,
Jumeirah Group, Casa Andina Hotels, Aman Group, Pan Pacific Hotels Group and
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.
To qualify as a Certificate of Excellence recipient, a
company must maintain an overall TripAdvisor rating of at least four out of
five, have a minimum number of reviews and have been listed on TripAdvisor for
at least 12 months.
To be named a "Most Excellent" honoree, at least
one-third of each chain's properties must have been Certificate of Excellence
recipients during the most recent qualifying period (April 1, 2017 to March 31,
2018).
Recipients of TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence, which
is now in its eighth year, are announced annually.
