The Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo has
announced details of a $35 million renovation scheduled to begin in August.
The resort will be
closed during renovations and a reopening is scheduled for Dec. 4.
Four Seasons calls the project an "extensive re-imagination that will bring a striking new interpretation of modern eco-luxury and meaningful explorations to Costa Rica's north Pacific coast."
The renovation will include new
furnishings, artwork and artisan pieces in all 181 guestrooms, suites and villas. Renovated guestrooms will have a "design aesthetic that recalls the intimate luxury, warmth and comforts of a beautiful home space," Four Seasons said. The property's 15
hillside Canopy Suites will receive new plunge pools.

The lobby will be redesigned and the pool area will receive new cabanas, amenities and
programming. The resort said that new guest activities and experiences will be "rooted in a
deep connection to self and nature."
The resort will have three new restaurant concepts, but Four Seasons did not provide many details. Four Seasons described the signature restaurant as a "new farm-and-sea-to-table concept" with an outdoor kitchen. The all-new Anejo bar and Library lounge will serve artisanal rum and spirits.
New York design firm Meyer Davis Studio has been tapped for
the renovation, scheduled for completion in December.
Property owner Gencom says the work is part of a "major
transformation" of the 1,400-acre Peninsula Papagayo development on Costa
Rica's northern Pacific coast.
The pool area will get new cabanas.
The new ownership group led by Miami-based Gencom purchased Peninsula Papagayo last year
and is planning more than $100 million in capital improvements to the
residential and resort development, including work on its golf course and
180-slip marina and the creation of 8 miles of nature trails.
Peninsula Papagayo, located in Costa Rica's Guanacaste
province about 30 minutes from Liberia Airport, is also home to the 153-room
Andaz Peninsula Papagayo.
