TAP Air Portugal will launch service between San Francisco
and Lisbon on June 10, flying five roundtrips per week.
San Francisco will become TAP Portugal's eighth U.S. gateway
and the only one on the West Coast. The San Francisco service is part of a
significant expansion in transatlantic routes, as TAP Portugal is also
launching Chicago and Washington Dulles flights next June, as previously
reported.
The San Francisco flights will operate Mondays, Tuesdays,
Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Economy fares start at $800 roundtrip, TAP Portugal
said.
TAP will fly the route with new 298-seat Airbus A330neo
aircraft. The planes have 34 lie-flat seats in business class and 96 in premium
economy. The seat pitch in premium economy is 34 inches, compared with 31 in coach.
