Spirit will commence flights from Orlando to Jamaica during the late winter, part of the discount carrier's fast expansion in Orlando.

Service between Orlando and Montego Bay commences Feb. 28 with four flights per week. Spirit will start thrice-weekly Orlando-Kingston service on March 1. Those routes will make Orlando Spirit's second gateway to Kingston, joining Fort Lauderdale, and its fourth gateway to Montego Bay, joining Fort Lauderdale, Detroit and Baltimore.

Along with the Jamaica routes, Spirit said it would begin flying daily between Orlando and Denver on Feb. 28. The three routes bring to 16 the number of international and domestic routes from Orlando that Spirit has either launched or announced since September. Among those are 12 routes between Orlando and either Latin America or the Caribbean.

Spirit's Orlando buildup coincides with the impending launch of its Orlando crew base, which the carrier says will be home to more than 100 flight attendants and pilots before the year is out and more employees by the spring.

With the addition of flights to Montego Bay, Kingston and Denver, Spirit will fly to 39 destinations from Orlando.
