Southwest will bulk up its flight schedule in Nashville next
summer.
Beginning the second week of June, the carrier will fly
daily from the Music City to Burbank and San Jose, Calif. In addition,
Southwest will increase its daily frequencies between Nashville and Boston,
Detroit, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, San Diego and St. Louis.
"As Nashville's economy thrives, we want to do what we
can to be the region's top choice for air travel," Southwest chief revenue
officer Andrew Watterson said.
Southwest will offer weekly summer seasonal service from
Nashville to Omaha, resume summer service between Nashville and Seattle, and
begin seasonal Nashville-Norfolk, Va. flights (a route the carrier flew in the
summer of 2014).
With the increased service and frequency, Southwest will operate
up 124 weekday departures per day from Nashville next summer, placing the
airport on the cusp of being a top 10 Southwest market. As of this past June,
Atlanta had the 10th most Southwest daily departures with 121, the airline's
website says.
