Danish ultralow-cost carrier Primera Air will begin flights from Brussels to Newark, Boston and Washington Dulles next spring.

Primera's flights between Brussels and Newark will begin May 9. The carrier will also begin three-times per week service to Washington and four-times per week service to Boston on June 2.

A former charter carrier, Primera began U.S. service in April and currently flies from Boston and Newark to London Stansted and Paris Charles de Gaulle; its Washington-London service launches Thursday.

The carrier will operate the Brussels flights with Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft equipped with economy and premium economy cabins.

Primera will be the first longhaul, low cost carrier in Brussels airport, it said.

Correction: The flights will be operated aboard Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft and not on Boeing 787 Dreamliners as an earlier version stated.
