Japan Airlines (JAL) will begin flying between Seattle and
Tokyo Narita on March 31 as part of its joint venture with American Airlines.
The daily route will compete with Delta and Japan's All
Nippon Airways (ANA), a United Airlines joint venture partner.
In conjunction with the route announcement, JAL said it
would expand its codeshare partnership with Alaska Airlines to include some 40
new cities. The carriers currently codeshare on 25 Alaska Airlines routes to 16
destinations.
The JAL-American joint venture will operate the
Seattle-Narita route with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
