Frontier has begun selling codeshare tickets in partnership with Mexican budget airline Volaris.

The codeshare operations cover more than 200 routes across the networks of both carriers. Frontier said the codeshare means that it is now selling 40 nonstop routes operated by Volaris between the U.S. and Mexico.

The carriers agreed to the codeshare -- a first of its kind among ultralow-cost carriers --in January. Frontier owner Indigo Partners is a major shareholder in Volaris.
