Unchanged from a year ago, New York, Orlando and Las Vegas are
top three Thanksgiving destinations, according to ARC.
ARC based its findings off ticket sales data from over
500,000 roundtrip itineraries for travel within the U.S. booked by travel agencies
and OTAs.
New York remains the No. 1 destination for Thanksgiving
travel (defined as travel from the Saturday before the holiday to the Monday after)
but there will be "a very small percentage drop in travelers" this
year, ARC said. Orlando will see a 7% jump in travelers, while Las Vegas will
see an 11% increase.
This year, Los Angeles edged out Chicago for fourth place.
San Francisco moved up one spot to sixth, while Atlanta jumped from No. 10 last
year to No. 7 this year. Dallas fell from sixth to eighth, and Washington, D.C.
fell one spot from eighth to ninth. Rounding out this year's top 10 was Miami,
which was not in the top 10 last year (Phoenix fell off the list this year).
According to ARC, roundtrip tickets were an average of $487,
up 2% from last year.
