Ethiopian Airlines has officially launched service to Chicago, the airline's fourth destination in the U.S. and its seventh in the Americas.
Commenting on the launch, Group CEO, Tewolde GebreMariam said: "It is the third-biggest city in the U.S. and one of the most important global aviation hubs. The flight will further boost the growing economic and people-to-people relations between the U.S. and Africa in general and Ethiopia in particular by enabling greater flow of trade, investment and tourism."
The launch of the new route precedes an event that saw U.S. undersecretary of commerce Gilbert Kaplan leading a large delegation of U.S. businesses and officials from across the U.S. on a visit to Ethiopian Airlines.
Kaplan met with Gebremariam to discuss potential ways for U.S. companies to partner with Ethiopian Airlines to achieve even greater growth, including in the construction and operation of new airports.
