Low-cost carrier Viva Aerobus has started a daily nonstop route between Mexico City and New York, with tickets starting from $100. Viva Aerobus anticipates more than 135,000 seats will be offered in the first year of operation.

According to a statement, Armando Subirats, operation deputy general director of the Mexico City International Airport, said the Mexico City-New York route is one of the most highly requested routes.

Today Viva Aerobus has 26 Airbus A320s, including four A320neo, on 102 routes to 44 destinations.
