Marriott's Luxury Collection will make its Los Cabos debut with the opening of the Solaz resort on June 1.
The property, the Luxury Collection's seventh in Mexico, is set on 34 acres and offers 128 rooms, all with ocean views. The development also includes 21 private residences.
Design elements celebrate "the land, water, people and rich history of the Baja peninsula," according to a press release announcing the property's opening date. Work on Solaz began in 2015; the opening date was originally set for June 2017.
Room decor will incorporate indigenous woods, and amenities will include Simmons Beautyrest Black mattresses, 400 thread-count linens, 55-inch or larger Samsung flat-screen TVs and complimentary WiFi.
Solaz will feature six restaurants and lounges and 20,000 square feet of meetings space. The property's spa will be the first in Baja California to offer thalassotherapy (treatments incorporating sea water), according to the press release.
Solaz is the first step in what developers are calling "an all-new cultural township offering visitors and locals a new dining, shopping and entertainment destination experience between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo." Owner/developer Quinta del Golfo de Cortez is also planning to open a St. Regis in Los Cabos in 2021.
