Blue Hawaiian Helicopters has expanded its operations on Kauai, adding flights and a new base.

The company has opened a new helicopter base on the Garden Isle's north shore, and tours operating out of the Princeville area started on June 4.

"This new base allows us to better service our Kauai guests and showcases the beauty of the north shore," Gregg Lundberg, president of Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, said in a statement. "We're honored to be a part of the wonderful community of Princeville and grow our Blue Hawaiian Helicopters' ohana."

Blue Hawaiian has also launched Discover Kauai, a new 45-minute aerial tour that departs from new base in Princeville (starting at $289 per person). The flight begins with a pass over Hanapepe Valley, known to have inspired the fictional hometown in the Disney film "Lilo & Stitch," then continues to the 400-foot Manawaiopuna Falls, also known as "Jurassic Park" Falls. Next, passengers see Olokele Canyon and Waimea Canyon, and Hanalei Bay. Along the way, the tour also cruises past the dramatic cliffs of the Napali Coast.
