The Fife Arms, a hotel project from Iwan and Manuela Wirth, Swiss founders of the Hauser & Wirth art gallery, is set to open this December in Braemar, Scotland.

The property is the result of two years of intensive restoration of a 19th century Victorian coaching inn and is the couple's first hotel project in the Scottish Highlands (they also own the six-bedroom Durslade Farmhouse in Somerset, England).

The 46-room hotel will feature more than 12,000 works of art by such internationally recognized artists as Zhang Enli, Guillermo Kuitca, Subodh Gupta and Bharti Kher along with a selection of original Scottish art.

Located a few miles from the British royal family's Balmoral estate, the tiny, historical village of Braemar is surrounded by Cairngorms National Park and has drawn thousands of spectators to its annual Highland Games since the event began 200 years ago. Braemar also is home to the cottage where Robert Louis Stevenson wrote "Treasure Island."

On-property amenities will include a spa as well as several eateries serving regional specialties like fresh seafood and game as well as local whiskies and spirits, many of which will be sourced from local suppliers, gamekeepers and farmers.
