Crystal Cruises has opened its Crystal Endeavor expedition yacht for new bookings.

The opening came a day after Crystal laid the keel for the 200-passenger ship in a ceremony attended by German chancellor Angela Merkel.

Merkel said the participation of hundreds of employees at the Werften shipyard “bodes well for the future of shipbuilding,” in Stralsund, Germany, which is her home town.

The 20,000-ton ship is expected to take two years to complete.

When it was announced in March 2016, the Crystal Endeavor was projected to debut this month. The reorganization of the Werften shipyard and other issues have pushed back the launch to 2020.
