Royal Caribbean International on April 1 will begin paying commission
on future cruise credits as a standard policy.
In a message to travel agents from Royal Caribbean senior
vice president of sales and trade support and services Vicki Freed, she said
that Royal Caribbean had been paying commissions on future cruise credits since
September because of hurricane-related disruptions.
"I am delighted to say that Royal Caribbean will be
making this a permanent policy," Freed said.
Future cruise credits are issued as a form of compensation
when something goes amiss on a cruise.
The move comes about nine months after Carnival Cruise Line
decided to adopt full commissions on cruises that were funded at least in part
by future cruise credits.
