Royal Caribbean picks husband-wife actors to name Symphony of the Seas

A ceremonial naming of Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas will be done by a family rather than a traditional godmother.

The 5,400-passenger Symphony will be dedicated by actors Carlos and Alexa PenaVega, along with their 17-month-old son, Ocean.

Royal Caribbean said the PenaVegas have celebrated a number of family firsts on Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class ships and "personify the spirit of the new ship, redefining the way families stay and play."

The naming ceremony will take place when the Symphony arrives at its permanent home in Miami in November.

Carlos PenaVega is known for his role as Carlos Garcia in the Nickelodeon musical comedy "Big Time Rush."  He has been in feature films, as well as the TV remake of "Grease: Live" as Kenickie.

Alexa PenaVega made a name for herself at an early age as Carmen Cortez in the "Spy Kids" film series. She has since starred in a number of feature films, TV series and TV films, most recently "Enchanted Christmas" for Hallmark Channel.

Royal Caribbean said that Alexa, Carlos and Ocean have a collective 9 million followers across their social media platforms, and "are the embodiment of the adventurous millennial family."
