Royal Caribbean International created a website called
SoundSeeker that adds soundtracks to vacation photos.
Users can upload three photos to the site. A program then
analyzes colors, faces and other attributes and generates a soundtrack. The
photos are combined into a kaleidoscopic video of 10 to 15 seconds, which can
be shared on social media.
"This unprecedented tool allows you to put a completely
unique, multisensory spin on sharing those memories -- now friends and followers
can see and hear your life's adventures," RCCL chief marketing officer Jim
Berra said.
The program was developed jointly with Boston's renowned
Berklee College of Music. Project experts there leveraged music theory to
create a roadmap for the tool that helps determine the musical pairing to
photos, accounting for pitch, tempo and instrumental combinations, among
others.
SoundSeeker is equipped to generate over one million unique
tracks, based on custom base tracks, composed exclusively for the cruise line,
Royal Caribbean said.
The customized tracks take inspiration from a wide variety
of music, including 90s hip-hop, rock, modern and electronic dance music.
