Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. will do a program of revitalization
and upgrades for Silversea Cruises under the name Project Invictus.
The development follows the July 31 closing of RCCL's
acquisition of a 66.7% equity stake in the Monaco-based luxury cruise operator.
"Our intent is to solidify our already strong
leadership position with an exciting array of upgrades that thrill our guests,"
said Roberto Martinoli, Silversea CEO.
The first Invictus enhancements will roll out on
the Silver Muse on Aug. 19, when an upgraded champagne and caviar service will
begin.
"Immediately thereafter," the champagne and caviar
and other enhancements will be implemented fleetwide, RCCL said.
The planned renovation of the Silver Whisper in December
2018 will be much more comprehensive than initially anticipated and will
include a partial refit of all guest cabins. The Silver Wind will enter
into an enhanced dry dock in December 2018.
Both vessels will join the overarching plan for a fleet-wide
"Musification," which will take inspiration from the design of the
brand's latest ship, the Silver Muse. The plan will be completed shortly after
with a renovation of the Silver Shadow.
Invictus means "unconquered" in Latin. It is the
title of a Victorian-era poem that includes the lines "I am the master of
my fate. I am the captain of my soul."
