Convention marketer Meet Puerto Rico launched a promotion
called "Check Off Your Bucket List" to jump-start Puerto Rico's recovery
of meetings business after Hurricane Maria.
The promotion rewards meeting and incentive planners for
booking groups at participating hotels and resorts. It applies to new leads or
groups with a signed contract by March 31, 2018, with a travel window through
Dec 31, 2019.
For bookings from 100 to 499 room nights, Meet Puerto Rico
will contribute $10 per booked room night, $15 per booked room night for 500 to
999 room nights, and $20 per booked room night for bookings of 1,000 or more
room nights.
Meet Puerto Rico CEO Milton Segarra said that the convention
center is "in such good shape that it is being used as the headquarters
for government officials."
"We were hit hard by the hurricanes, that is for sure,
but we are still standing," said Segarra. "Puerto Rico's meetings
industry is here with the intent to maintain our appeal as a desired meetings
and conventions destination. The industry is moving from a period of assessment
to engagement."
