Starwood Capital Group has acquired the St. Regis
Princeville on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai, and the company plans to renovate and rebrand the resort under
its 1 Hotels eco-luxe brand.
Starwood Capital will invest more than $100 million in the
transformation of the hotel, which will ultimately become the 1 Hotel Hanalei
Bay. Starwood Capital has partnered with East West Partners on the project.
Effective immediately, the 251-room hotel has been renamed
Princeville Resort and will be operated by Starwood Capital's SH Hotels &
Resorts. Overlooking Kauai's Hanalei Bay, the resort's current amenities
include five dining locations, a spa and preferential access to the Princeville
Makai Golf Club.
Once revamped, the property will showcase a modern wellness
center and an oversized fitness area, featuring outdoor and indoor components.
Currently, there are 1 Hotels in Manhattan, Brooklyn and
South Beach. In the next two years, the brand plans to open properties in West
Hollywood and Sunnyvale, California; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and Sanya, China.
