Conrad Hotels & Resorts is revealing more details about
the Conrad Washington, D.C., which has begun accepting reservations ahead of
its February opening.
The 360-room property, Conrad's first in the city, is part
of the second phase of downtown's CityCenterDC, a mixed-use development of
upscale retail and dining outlets and residences. Developers Hines and the
Qatar Investment Authority opened the first phase in early 2014.
The hotel will have 30,000 square feet of high-end retail
space on its ground floor and 32,000 square feet of meetings space featuring
floor-to-ceiling windows, according to Conrad parent Hilton. Other facilities
will include three outdoor terraces, a rooftop bar and an events terrace with
panoramic views of the U.S. Capitol.
The 10-story building was designed by Herzog & de
Meuron, the Swiss firm behind projects such as the Olympic Stadium in Beijing
and the Tate Modern in London.
Celebrity chef siblings Bryan and Michael Voltaggio of "Top
Chef" fame will oversee the hotel's signature restaurant, Estuary.
Guests of the hotel's club-level rooms and suites will have
access to the Sakura Club, offering made-to-order meals by a private chef, use
of private meeting rooms and priority reservations at Estuary.
"Conrad Washington, D.C. will usher in a new era of
hospitality for our domestic and international travelers seeking modern luxury
in the nation's capital," Hilton CEO Christopher Nassetta said in a
statement.
