LATAM Airlines Group will invest $400 million to renovate interiors of more than 200 aircraft, about two-thirds of its global fleet, over the next few years.

For long-haul routes, LATAM will overhaul its Premium Business in Boeing 767 and 777 aircraft to include lie-flat seats, as well as aisle access from every seat. The design will apply to new Boeing 787-9 and Airbus 350-1000 aircraft entering the fleet in the coming years. Those aircraft also will feature new seating in economy with fast-charging USB ports and larger seatback screens.

Additionally, LATAM is revamping the cabins of more than 150 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft that serve domestic routes and routes within Latin America. The work will introduce the same seats and USB ports for economy class as on the new long-haul aircraft, as well as expanded Wi-Fi connectivity and entertainment options.

The group will begin with LATAM Airlines Peru, which should have its first newly designed aircraft before the end of 2018. The renovated aircraft will begin to appear on LATAM Airlines Brazil's route between Sao Paulo and Lima in early 2019, and they will begin to appear on LATAM Airlines Group's Chile affiliate in the second half of 2019.

In the economy cabin, LATAM said that it will maintain its minimum of space between rows, or pitch, of 31 inches or more. The carrier will also offer more spacious seats, called LATAM Plus, at the front of economy cabins, featuring 35 inches of pitch and extra recline. Those seats will come with enhanced service, such as priority check-in and boarding.
