Aeromexico will halt five U.S. routes in 2019 in a cost-cutting measure.

The airline will suspend Mexico City-Boston, Mexico City-Washington Dulles, Mexico City-Portland, Monterrey-Las Vegas and Guadalajara-San Jose.

The cuts are a result of Aeromexico's decision to retire five aircraft as part of a cost-saving plan. Aeromexico will also suspend four domestic routes.

The carrier reported a net loss of 617 million pesos ($31.9 million) during the third quarter as fuel prices jumped 45.7% and the peso fell 6.7% versus the dollar.

Aeromexico partners with Delta on a U.S-Mexico joint venture alliance. Delta owns a minority stake in the airline.
