LOOK DOWN: Photographing a room from above adds interest and dramatic flair. It also gives you a bit more distance to show off the space.

EARLY LIGHT IS MY FAVORITE LIGHT: Early morning natural light is flattering and diffused. Apply a filter to accentuate the warmth of the early morning sun.

GET THE PROPER LIGHTING FOR YOUR SUBJECTS: Poke around on your screen to get the light sensor to focus on the lightest spot in your image and adjust from there. If it’s still not quite perfect, make use of one of the in-app filters.

LOOK FOR COLOR: Splashes of color give your feed variety and interest. Arrange your shots to give the whole presentation variety and color where needed.

FRAME YOUR PHOTOS: Frame the image with something the foreground. This adds details and fills negative space. Step back to see what you can include for a bit of color to complement your subject or story.

TAKE TIME TO EDIT: Instagram is spontaneous and on the fly, but take some time to edit your shot, focusing on details like cropping, straightening or basic edits. Check out some of the free apps to help you along.
