Aqua Expeditions has added a series of hosted cruises for
2018 after experiencing success with themed sailings in 2017.
The river cruise line will sail cruises hosted by company
founder and CEO Francesco Galli Zugaro, consulting chefs Pedro Miguel
Schiaffino and David Thompson, and conservationist Jean-Michel Cousteau.
Cousteau, son of the late explorer and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau,
will be leading a series of Amazon cruises on the Aria Amazon. The cruises will
focus on issues of environmental protection. Guests can join Cousteau for
biking and kayaking excursions in the jungle to spot wildlife, and for evening
discussions.
Schiaffino, consulting chef on the Aria Amazon and chef and
owner of Lima restaurants Malabar and ÁmaZ, will lead Amazon cruises that will
include cooking classes, market visits and discussions about local ingredients.
Thompson, owner of Bangkok restaurant Nahm, will lead
foodie-themed cruises on the Aqua Mekong. Guests will have the opportunity to
collaborate with him on preparing locally inspired dishes such as Cambodian
catfish green curry and lemon basil cashew nut pudding with coconut cream.
Zugaro will hosts guests on Mekong and Amazon cruises, during
which guests can join him on bike rides, kayaking trips and wildlife spotting.
