Location and History
This hotel is within walking distance of the Raptor Center, downtown shopping, the Russian Orthodox Church, the National Historic Park and Castle Hill.
It looks out over the most beautiful waterfront, and the city is one of the few places where Alaska's czarist Russian heritage is still evident.
This lodge-style hotel is the most upscale property in Sitka, although the pickings are slim. It was built in 1972 by the local Shee Atika Native Corp., and its Tlingit name means "village behind the islands.
