PO Box 173, San Ignacio, Belize
Location and History
Located in the remote Mountain Pine Ridge area of Cayo, Gaia Riverlodge sits atop the Five-Sisters Waterfalls. Travelers love Gaia, the sister resort to Matachica on Ambergris Caye, for its remote luxury yet convenient access to some of the best adventure activities, including ATM cave and such Mayan sites as Caracol.
Formerly the Five Sisters Lodge, the resort operates on its own hydro power plant and even won a Green Globe Award.
Gaia is a three-plus-hour haul from the international airport, including a rather bumpy, hour-long ride along a muddy dirt road, but the payoff is absolute serenity once you arrive on property.
