Location and History
When Annette Peyer Loerner of Switzerland first visited the site of her current hotel just outside of Salisbury on the West Coast of Dominica, she noted there was a large tamarind tree standing in the yard. Peyer Loerner then decided that should she and her partner Stefan start a hotel there, the place should be called The Tamarind Tree.
The couple opened the hotel in 2001. The tall tree itself has been an integral part of the hotel since then: thankfully it even survived Hurricane Maria's visit in 2017.
