Location and History
Its location on an Egyptian-themed square in Paris means that its facade comes as no surprise: It commemorates Napoleon's efforts in Egypt over the years. What does prove interesting is that the interior has nothing Egyptian about its decor.
In the second arrondissement, this triangular public space commemorates the French troops that came to Cairo in the late 1700s. Near the hotel's entrance is the oldest and longest covered passageway in the city named Passage du Caire.
