Location and History
This property is one of Madrid's best small hotels. The Palacio del Retiro surpasses Santo Mauro's site, a 20-minute walk to the north. This hotel is in an unbelievable location, just two blocks away from the Prado but away from the hordes of tourists who gather around the Ritz and Marriott sibling Westin Palace (soon to switch to The Luxury Collection). Changes are in place here, too, as the hotel has shed its former AC moniker.
The property sold in 2023 to two Spanish brother investors that have plans to keep it at the top of the pack in a marketplace that has seen Rosewood, Mandarin Oriental, JW Marriott and Four Seasons enter the market.
