Serdar-I Ekrem Sokak 24 Galata - Beyoglu, Istanbul, Turkey 34425
Location and History
This small boutique-hotel is situated just two blocks from Galata Tower in a historic, primarily Jewish neighborhood of hilly cobblestoned streets lined by centuries-old buildings that now house shops, boutiques, cafes and small restaurants.
Georges Hotel occupies a small historic building dating from 1882 that was built by the Jewish Italian doctor Avram de Castro, who was physician to the royal family and head of the western psychiatric asylum. The elegant 4-story structure served as both his home and medical practice office before being renovated into a hotel.
