Location and History
The exclusive and refined Cirqa Hotel is ideally located one block over from Arequipa's main square, Plaza de Armas.
It's housed in a UNESCO World Heritage building dating to 1540. The property's long, illustrious history is detailed in a well-designed display in the hotel's entrance hallway. Briefly, the white sillar stone property was originally built as a monastery connected to San Augustin Church and remained that way until Peru's independence in 1821.
Upon the nation's founding, the government took over ownership of the property and held it until they sold it to the prominent Almudi family in 1883.
