Silversea Cruises will bring its luxury ships from
the U.S. to Cuba for the first time on 17 voyages in 2019 and 2020.
Five trips next year are already open for booking.
Some include port calls in either Cienfuegos or Santiago de Cuba; all include
Havana. Most have an overnight in at least one port.
The inaugural Cuba voyage departs San Juan on Feb. 14 for a
seven-day cruise to Fort Lauderdale on the Silver Wind, stopping at Havana,
Santiago de Cuba and Bimini.
Several roundtrip sailings from Fort Lauderdale with Cuba
stops are also being scheduled.
Access to Cuba by cruise ships traveling from U.S. ports was
embargoed for more than 50 years until arrangements for Carnival Corp.'s Fathom
cruise ship to go there broke the diplomatic logjam in 2016.
