Seabourn has taken delivery of its newest ship, the
600-passenger Seabourn Encore, during a ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in
Sestri Ponente, Italy.
The Encore was designed by hotel and restaurant designer
Adam Tihany. Each of its 300 suites have a private veranda.
New to the ship is The Retreat, where passengers can relax
in private cabanas or get a spa treatment. Encore also features a new
restaurant, Sushi, as well as The Grill by Thomas Keller, the signature
restaurant that was introduced on Seabourn Quest earlier this year.
Coming in January, the ship will feature a new show, "An
Evening with Tim Rice," debuting on the ship's inaugural voyage from
Singapore. A wellness program by integrative medicine pioneer Andrew Weil will
also debut on the ship in January.
"We have been looking forward to this day for over two
years," Seabourn president Richard Meadows said in a statement. "Seabourn
Encore has become a stunning ship that will set a new standard in ultra-luxury
cruising."
The Encore will be christened on Jan. 7 in Singapore, when
singer Sarah Brightman, the Encore's godmother, will name the ship. The subsequent inaugural sailing will be a 10-day Indonesia cruise.
