TW Gatherings April 2014

The fourth annual American Express IV Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic took place April 11 to 14 at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita on the Riviera Nayarit on Mexico's Pacific coast. The Hicks family of St. Petersburg is greeted by Russ Dagon (in yellow shirt), vice president and executive project director at Universal Creative, and the “Despicable Me” Minions at the opening of Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort in Orlando on March 31. They were the first guests to check in at the retro-inspired hotel, whose amenities include a 10,000-square-foot pool with tower waterslide and a 10-lane bowling alley.

Silversea Cruises selected Lisa Long of Avoya Travel as the winner of its Partner for Success sweepstakes for U.S. and Canadian travel agents. Long’s prize: a Mercedes-Benz sedan. Kristian Anderson, Silversea's senior vice president of sales and general manager for North America, handed over the keys. "I was thrilled to hear that I had won," Long said. "My travel agency specializes in luxury cruises, and I love creating amazing vacation experiences on Silversea's ships and delivering first-class service to my customers."

Dominique Meyer, director of the Vienna State Opera, was in town in March to help promote the 150th anniversary of Vienna’s Ringstrasse, taking place in 2015. Emperor Franz Joseph officially opened Vienna's Ringstrasse on May 1, 1865, and the grand, circular road surrounding the inner city is home to museums, parks, monuments, and important municipal buildings and cultural attractions including the state opera. The city will celebrate the famous boulevard's birthday in 2015 with numerous events and exhibitions.
